Anatoliy Gulimovskiy

Seventh Grade Math Teacher, Math Club / Math Team Coach

Anatoliy Gulimovskiy was a senior math teacher for 10 years at the Vinnitsa State Pedagogical University, and a vice-principal for nine years at Vinnitsa High School in Ukraine. In all, Mr. Gulimovskiy has more than 50 years of experience teaching middle and high school math in the U.S., Ukraine, and Zambia, where he was also the head of the Kambule Secondary School’s math department. He has an M.S. in mathematics with a minor in physics from the Vinnitsa State Pedagogical University, and he has also completed his requirements for a doctorate. Anatoliy joined the Black Pine Circle School faculty in 1996. In 2008, he was chosen by the Mathematical Association of America as a winner of the Edyth May Sliffe Award for Distinguished Junior High School Mathematics Teaching. He enjoys reading books, playing soccer, and being a fan of the Oakland A’s and San Jose Sharks.

Why I Work with Children

I love helping each student to find their own individual way and program of learning mathematics. This year, personal and individual differentiation helped 12 students to complete not only an advanced algebra 1 course, but also an Honors-level Geometry course.

A Favorite Book

Weaponized Lies: How to Think Critically in the Post-Truth Era by Daniel J. Levitin. It made me really understand the media information that bombards us every day, especially how to not be fooled and misled by numbers and logic which is based on misinformation in everyday life.
