Sonam Gonsar
Upper School Office Manager
Born and raised in the foothills of the Himalayas in India, Sonam Gonsar moved to California in 1992 as part of the One Thousand Tibetans Resettlement Project. She completed her B.A. in English in India, and taught ESL for a year. Before joining Black Pine Circle School in 2002, Sonam enjoyed working as a K–5 teacher’s assistant at Hillcrest School in Oakland. At BPC, she appreciates getting to assist and interact with students, parents, and colleagues on a daily basis. Outside of school, she enjoys community service, catching up with family and friends in various time zones, knitting, and sewing.
Why I Work with Children
I enjoy supporting and seeing the growth in students on a daily basis.
A Favorite Book
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. I appreciate how this simple-seeming children’s book depicts the importance of generosity in a way that all ages can comprehend and benefit from.
