We are delighted to announce that Andra Marziano has been appointed as our next Head of Upper School at Black Pine Circle, beginning July 1, 2026. Prior to serving as Interim Head of Upper School and Andra held a wide range of leadership roles at BPC, including Assistant Head of Upper School, Dean of Students, Athletic Director, Extended Day Program Director, and CAIS Self-Study Coordinator in addition to having been the Upper School Drama Teacher for many years and an Advisor. Across these roles, Andra has focused on building coherent, integrated systems that support students academically, socially, and emotionally while strengthening the daily work of teachers. In addition to her school leadership work, Andra brings extensive experience as a theatre program director and teaching artist. Her background in the arts informs her belief that learning is relational, expressive, and deeply human, cultivating empathy, collaboration, resilience, and voice. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and has pursued professional development through Project Zero and Developmental Designs. At the core of Andra’s leadership philosophy is the belief that schools thrive when students are deeply known, meaningfully challenged, and thoughtfully supported, and when educators are empowered as reflective professionals. She places strong value on partnership with parents, teachers, and students, grounded in shared values, trust, and open communication, in service of creating the strongest possible learning experience for every student.

This decision followed a thoughtful and rigorous process, which included input from all constituents of the BPC community. Ultimately, Andra’s leadership as our Interim Head of Upper School, deep understanding of our mission, and demonstrated commitment to the growth of our upper school program and student well-being made her the right choice for BPC’s next chapter.
