Head of Lower School (K–5)

Black Pine Circle School (BPC) is a K–8 independent school seeks an experienced, collaborative, and student-centered Head of Lower School (K–5) to join its leadership team. Reporting to the Head of School, this role provides intellectual and administrative leadership for the Lower School community, overseeing faculty, students, and families while guiding the daily life of approximately 125 students. The Head of Lower School ensures a developmentally appropriate, inquiry-based curriculum that reflects the school’s Socratic approach and commitment to academic and artistic excellence. This leader supports faculty growth through coaching, hiring, and evaluation, maintains a visible and relational presence on campus, and collaborates with school leadership to ensure a cohesive K–8 experience. Start Date: July 1, 2026.

Upper School Math Teacher (6-8)

Black Pine Circle School (K–8 independent school) seeks a thoughtful, collaborative, and student-centered Upper School Math Teacher to join its vibrant learning community. This educator teaches mathematics to students in grades 6–8, designing engaging, inquiry-based lessons that build conceptual understanding, computational fluency, and confidence in mathematical thinking. Through hands-on exploration, meaningful problem solving, and clear mathematical communication, the teacher fosters curiosity, perseverance, and a lifelong appreciation for mathematics. The Upper School Math Teacher cultivates a supportive classroom environment where students feel safe to question, investigate, and take intellectual risks. Start Date: August 9, 2026.

Lower School Math Specialist Job (K-5)

Black Pine Circle School (K–8 independent school) seeks a collaborative and knowledgeable Lower School (K–5) Math Specialist to support and strengthen its dynamic mathematics program. This educator partners closely with classroom teachers to enhance math instruction through coaching, modeling lessons, and collaborative planning, helping ensure that all students develop deep conceptual understanding and confidence in mathematics. Through small-group instruction, targeted support, and enrichment opportunities, the Math Specialist works to meet the diverse needs of learners while fostering curiosity, perseverance, and a growth mindset. The Math Specialist also contributes to the professional growth of faculty by facilitating professional learning, sharing research-based instructional practices, and collaborating with school leadership to analyze student learning and refine the K–5 math program. Start Date: August 9, 2026.

Lower School (K–5) Head Teacher

Black Pine Circle School (K–8 independent school) seeks a dedicated, creative, and student-centered Lower School (K–5) Head Teacher to join its engaging learning community. This educator leads instruction in language arts, mathematics, and social studies, designing responsive and well-structured lessons that support the academic and social growth of every child. The Head Teacher cultivates a warm, energetic classroom environment where students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate thoughtfully, and take intellectual risks. Working in close partnership with specialist teachers in music, PE, art, science, gardening, and Spanish, the Head Teacher also mentors and supports an assistant teacher, ensuring a cohesive, nurturing, and high-quality educational experience for all learners. Start Date: August 9, 2026.

Lower School (K–5) Assistant Teacher

Black Pine Circle School seeks a dependable, reflective, and growth-oriented Assistant Teacher to join its Lower School (Grades K-5) team. This full-time position works in close partnership with a Head Teacher and under the guidance of the Assistant Teacher Coordinator and Head of Lower School to support students’ academic progress and social-emotional development. The Assistant Teacher plays an active role in classroom instruction, small-group facilitation, and community building, contributing to a supportive and well-organized learning environment. Committed to professional development, BPC encourages and supports assistants who are pursuing or considering credential programs, typically partnering with educators for two to four years as they refine their practice and prepare for future head teaching roles, with responsibilities thoughtfully aligned to grade-level needs and program requirements. Start Date: April 6, 2026

Substitute Teacher (per diem)

Substitute teachers will be required to execute lesson plans left by head teachers and/or assistant teachers in a supportive role. In addition, substitute teachers will be required to perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: recess and lunch coverage; other subject coverages; copying; and prepping materials. All substitute teachers will be asked to complete an observation form at the end of each day they are substituting.
