Nitya Jain

Sixth Grade Science Teacher

Nitya Jain earned a B.S. in biomolecular engineering & bioinformatics, a B.A. in philosophy, and a minor in computer science from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Nitya’s research background spans microbial genomics, evolutionary genomics, and mitochondrial biology. She began her teaching journey as a daycare teacher, continued through peer tutoring in various university STEM courses, and expanded to leading lessons in game development for high school students. They have experience in mentoring tutors and have presented at conferences on equitable tutoring strategies for neurodiverse learners. They are excited to empower students in finding their own unique intersections of interest within science. Outside of the classroom, Nitya loves to rock climb, hike, play card games, and read.
