Head of Upper School
Black Pine Circle School (K–8 independent school) seeks a thoughtful, collaborative, and mission-driven Head of Upper School (Grades 6–8) to lead a dynamic community of educators and students in Berkeley, California. The ideal candidate is an instructional leader who models curiosity, empathy, and integrity while fostering a culture of inquiry, belonging, and academic excellence. This individual is an instructional leader and culture builder who is also responsible for managing the growth and development of the upper school faculty and staff.
Executive Assistant to the Head of School
Black Pine Circle School is a K–8 independent school in Berkeley, California. Our Lower School (grades K–5) supports approximately 125 students, and our Upper School (grades 6–8) supports approximately 180 students. The Executive Assistant to the Head of School provides consistent, confidential, and professional administrative support for the Head of School in order to maintain the well-being of the school and the broader community. The executive assistant to the head plays an integral role in the day-to-day goings on of the administrative team, faculty, and the student body. This individual will be the first line of communication between the Head of School and the wider community.
Assistant Mandarin Teacher
Black Pine Circle School seeks a dedicated and collaborative Part-Time Assistant Mandarin Teacher to support our 6th grade Mandarin program and assist in the planning and execution of our 8th grade trip to China. This role includes working closely with the Head Mandarin Teacher to provide both academic and social-emotional support to students and contribute to a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Substitute Teacher (per diem)
Substitute teachers will be required to execute lesson plans left by head teachers and/or assistant teachers in a supportive role. In addition, substitute teachers will be required to perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: recess and lunch coverage; other subject coverages; copying; and prepping materials. All substitute teachers will be asked to complete an observation form at the end of each day they are substituting.
