Christine Ma

Prof. of Pediatrics, UCSF, Medical Dir. for Encore Medical Clinic, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, and Kerry's Kids

Christine Ma is a professor of pediatrics at UC San Francisco with a focus on children and families experiencing homelessness, and is a faculty fellow with the Osher Collaborative for Integrative Health. She is the medical director of the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland’s Encore Medical Clinic which serves the unique health needs of unstably housed families, and is the faculty advisor on family homelessness for the UCSF Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative. She is also the medical director of Kerry’s Kids, a non-profit pediatric mobile health clinic, providing free health care to children who are homeless, uninsured, and underserved in Alameda County. Dr. Ma has also focused on community engagement and policies impacting homelessness. She previously served on San Francisco’s Continuum of Care Board, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s mandated lead entity working with the county and community on strategies to address the needs of people experiencing homelessness, and now serves on the Leadership Board for Oakland, Berkeley/Alameda County Continuum of Care. She received her S.B. degree in molecular and cellular biology from M.I.T. and her M.D. from UCSF, where she also completed her pediatric residency. She resides in Berkeley with her husband and three children, two who are alums and one who is currently attending Black Pine Circle School.
