Best-Known Collegiate A Cappella Group, the Yale Whiffenpoofs, Perform at BPC

Yale Whiffenpoofs at BPC

Our upper school students were treated to a wonderful performance from the Yale Whiffenpoofs at a recent Upper School Gathering. Every year, 14 senior Yale students are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs, the world's oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group, which was founded in 1909. They focus full-time on rehearsing and performing internationally, returning to complete their degrees the following year. We were so pleased to have these very talented singers perform for the Upper School and also lead our sixth grade in an a cappella singing workshop.

Comments from the students themselves describe the impactful experience well:

“These 20-year-old people have massive talent, and I have a lot of respect for them.”

“Singing with them made me feel powerful."

“I think that a cappella is entirely based on teamwork, and that the structure involves community and accuracy.”

“I felt like I was in a different world and I had massive goosebumps.”
