John Ormsby

Director of Development

John Ormsby was previously associate director for foundation and corporate support at the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Prior to that, he worked for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer for nearly 10 years as special assistant to the chief of staff, and senior field representative for nine Bay Area counties. After 19 years, John recently stepped down as president of the board of directors of the Berkeley-based nonprofit, Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP), which provides sports and other recreation opportunities for people, primarily children, with physical disabilities. John previously served on the boards of the Berkeley Athletic Fund, which supports the Berkeley High School Athletic Department, and the East Bay Cyclones baseball club. He and his wife both graduated from UC Berkeley and have lived in Berkeley since 1995. Their son graduated from Black Pine Circle School in 2021. John greatly enjoys music and art, plays baseball on occasion, and is a lapsed competitive road cyclist. He joined Black Pine Circle School in 2011.
