Upper School Math Specialist
Stephanie Somersille is the upper school math specialist. Ms. Somersille enjoys assisting the math teachers at BPC in their goal of ensuring that each student is appropriately challenged and supported in math. Ms. Somersille has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Yale University and a Ph.D. in math from UC Berkeley. She has tutored students of all ages and has taught math at the college level, most recently at Dartmouth. She currently does math research and consults in various areas including machine learning, data science, math education, gerrymandering, game theory and mathematical finance. Ms. Somersille enjoys nurturing students’ interests in math and in projects from other disciplines which involve math. In her personal time, she can be found surfing, volunteering at the ballet and symphony, taking ballet classes, or helping care for the animals at The Marine Mammal Center. Ms. Somersille joined Black Pine Circle in February, 2018.
