Kathleen McNamara

Head of School, The Seven Hills School

Kathleen McNamara is the head of school at The Seven Hills School (PS-8th grade, coed, 400 students) in Walnut Creek. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in French (B.A. Rutgers University, M.A. New York University), she began her independent school career as a middle and high school French teacher. Add in English teacher, high school placement counselor, division head, assistant head and now head of school, Ms. McNamara is in her 31st year in independent schools on both coasts. In her second headship, she is happy to be part of the East Bay School community. Ms. McNamara lives with her husband, Jihad Mirza, an experienced independent school educator and fundraiser in Walnut Creek. They have three grown children who all live nearby in Northern California.
