Fourth Grade Assistant Teacher
Hannah Lesser is local to Berkeley and loves exploring hidden urban parks and giving advice to tourists about where to find the most tasty food. Since graduating from Oberlin College in 2008, she has been working as an experiential educator with children and teenagers throughout the Bay Area. When not dreaming up creative projects to work on with her students, Ms. Lesser loves to travel the world and study the ways that folks live. Ms. Lesser lived on a farm in Italy in 2013 and learned extensively about organic goat cheese production. She lived in Cologne, Germany in 2014 as a fellow of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, building community for young adults. Ms. Lesser is a Bay Area Teacher Training Institute student and is excited to pursue a master’s in education while working in the classroom at Black Pine Circle School. She is passionate about all cats, cheese, old stuff, and documentary films.
Why I Work with Children
Children are the future. Being a part of their pondering, learning, and growth is fascinating and rewarding. The abundant creativity of kids inspires me!
A Favorite Book
Julían is a Mermaid because the illustrations are gorgeous, the understanding and acceptance that Julían’s grandmother has for them brings me joy, and I also want to be a mermaid.
