Seventh Grade Math Teacher, Upper School Math Specialist
Corinne Allen received her B.A. in computer science from Mills College. She spent a brief period working in tech and then, having already taught self-defense and empowerment courses to women and girls with Impact Bay Area for a number of years, she found her way into independent schools to empower students in the classroom. She taught technology, science, and math at Julia Morgan School for Girls for 11 years, and math at Prospect Sierra for three years. She joined the Black Pine Circle faculty as the distance learning facilitator and also taught and provided math support during the 2020-2021 school year. She loves noticing all the ways that we use math in our daily lives, and is a firm believer that EVERYONE is a “math person”! Corinne strives to embody a growth mindset and to nourish confidence and a positive relationship to math in all her students. She is also currently working on a master’s degree in educational therapy at Holy Names University. Corinne is an East Bay Native, and in her personal time, she is likely to be found trail running or playing in the hills with her son and her dog.
