Lower School Spanish Teacher
Señora Burger graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in communication disorders and concentrations in Spanish and linguistics. Spending a semester studying at the University of Granada in Spain quickly sparked her love of learning about different Hispanic cultures from around the world. She has attended multiple trainings in the Responsive Classroom approach, and TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling), a method for teaching foreign languages that she enjoys implementing in her classes. She joined Black Pine Circle School in 2000, and for three years spent time assisting the third and fourth grade teachers and working as the lower school librarian, upper school athletic director, and basketball and volleyball coach. After spending the 2003 – 2004 school year in Huanchaco, Peru teaching English, Señora Burger went back to her home state of Maine, where she taught Spanish classes at the middle and high school levels. She has been back at Black Pine Circle School since 2005, teaching Spanish in the Lower and Upper Schools. Señora Burger likes to spend time cooking and enjoying the outdoors with her husband and two children.

All the smiling faces and funny comments make my heart feel full, and I learn so much from them!
A Favorite Book
I love the Harry Potter books because they draw you into a fun, fantastical world that is vastly different than my own life. They make me feel like I’ve gone on a magical virtual reality vacation!
