Learning Services Team
The learning services team supports the educational profiles of all students at Black Pine Circle School. Laura Wolff, the director of learning services and the learning specialist for the Lower School at Black Pine Circle School, coordinates the efforts of our school therapist, Deborah Raphael, school counselor, Nico Pemantle, and our educational psychologist and upper school learning specialist, Adena Young, in order to help students with learning differences and social-emotional needs. They work with students both individually and in small groups. Learning services include collaborating with teachers and parents regarding individual learning styles, providing specific classroom supports and accommodations as needed, resource referrals and recommendations for external services, and consultation with allied professionals for seamless case management. Teachers may request basic screens for reading, math, handwriting, memory, sensory issues, executive function skills, social-emotional and pragmatic language skills, as well as focus control.
